King Fidelio 2269 Custom Southwestern Theme Double French Horn (Free Postage Lower 48 States)
Up For Your Consideration is a "one of a kind" King Fidelio Double French Horn! The inspiration behind this horn was to create a Southwestern/Native American Vibe Double French Horn! I think the owner did an excellent job of depicting a very nice Southwestern French Horn! I recently picked up this horn on consignment from a French Horn Player who dearly loves this horn. I have seen pride of ownership with many horns, but nothing to the degree of pride that this horn ensues. The model number of this horn is King 2269 'Fidelio model'. This horn recently came out of the shop and was given an inspection; all braces are secure, all of the tuning slides & valve caps move freely, and the valves are fast, quiet, and responsive with excellent compression. I did a valve compression test on all the valves, and all the valves had compression readings between 0.6 -1.0. The Alexander ring was cut by Chuck Ward, and he also inspected the valves. The bell look great, the lead pipe is in excellent condition, the inside tubing looks excellent, and the horn comes with a nice detachable case. The Silver lead pipe, de-lacquering & Special 'Rainbow' Patina Solution were done by Miles O'Malley of O'Malley Brass in Chicago. As regarding the patina, the added special solution displays different color hues depending upon the lighting. Under certain lighting, green, blue and purple hues appear. Under different lighting, red, orange and pink hues appear....and if sunlight shines through those wavy glass block windows found in basements and some certain storefronts, then all kinds of colors pop out on the horn! Turquoise suede leather wrapping has been added to the horn for added color effect. The turquoise, silver and copper accented valve caps were originally added for fun-color enhancement....but discovered that the added volume and weight of the caps improved the centering's of notes. There is an Amado spit valve on the bottom of the lead pipe; cork lever spit valve on bottom of 3rd valve on Bb slide for greater ease of condensation removal. The serial number is posted for your review. Please check out the pictures for further clarification of condition.
THIS HORN IS A PLAYER! This is smooth horn in many ways! Silky smooth valve and finger lever action! Smooth, even transitions between registers...and a smooth blend between free-blowing horn (George McCracken-designed Fidelio's and Eroica's are the most free-blowing of Kruspe-style horns) and yet has smooth slotting of notes in the upper register...neither too rigid in slotting nor too loosely unslotted and overly free blowing . A really nice blend which offers smooth accuracy. Please schedule an appointment to come out and test play this very special horn!
