King 1291 Monster 6/4 Four Rotary Valve Recording Bell BBb Tuba From 1939 (Free Shipping 48 States)
Up For Your Consideration Is A Very Rare 4 Rotary Valve BBb Tuba! Legend has it that King imported 4 dozen sets of rotary valve sets from Germany in the 1930's. Perhaps there were more made than 48, but not much more. The serial number suggest this Tuba was made in 1939. This is one of two King 4 Rotary Valve Tubas that I purchased from Texas Tech University a couple of years ago. This particular tuba was recently worked on by Lee Stofer! Lee does absolutely amazing work. I cannot wait for the second one to get out of the shop! Lee restored the Tuba to the original string linkage. He did a wonderful job bringing this tuba back to it's original condition! The string linkage is super cool, and the valves action on this tuba is superb! The finish on this tuba looks amazing! There are some dings, dents, surface wear, and other signs of character. This has to be one of the nicest looking 87 year old tubas around! The bell is 24 inches and the inside of the bell is gold washed! Please check out the pictures for further clarification of condition. THIS TUBA IS HEAVY! This Tuba was made during a wonderful time! The craftsmanship of this musical instrument is phenomenal. They do not make Tubas like this one anymore. The bore size is .750. This tuba would be a great addition for the avid collector, or someone looking for a super cool tuba to gig with. This Tuba really belongs in a museum, but it plays so well. THIS TUBA IS A PLAYER! If you are strong enough to carry around this monster, this might be the tuba for you. There is a case for the body of the tuba that is in good condition with functioning latches. The straps on the inside are in very good condition! The bell case has 2 functioning latches, and one broken latch. The Tuba must be postmarked and shipped within 10 days of receiving the horn to initiate the return process. Buyer is responsible for return shipping charges. I do not charge a re-stocking fee for returns if you pay by check or cash. I also offer a 5% cash discount if you buy the horn in person. I do charge a 3.5% re-stocking fee if you pay with a credit card or PayPal. Credit card companies and PayPal do not refund payment processing fees.
