Verfertigt Von J Melich Koln "Handmade" Compensating Double French Horn (Free Shipping Lower 48 States)
Up For Your Consideration Is A Compensating Double French Horn that was handmade in Koln Germany by J Melich. This is a collectable horn and would not be a good choice for a beginner student looking for a nice horn at a good price. This horn would be great for a collector of vintage horns looking for a unique and rare handmade Compensating Double French Horn. I am hoping some European members in the French Horn groups are gracious enough to share some information on this horn due to the limited amount of information on the internet about this Horn Maker. According to my research J Melich started making horn in 1903 and is currently making horns in Switzerland. "The Melich factory was bombed in WWII so it was moved first to the south of Germany and then to Frauenfeld Switzerland. He was succeeded by his grandson who also built horns" (Horn-u-copia). The horn is in good condition and limited to some dings, dents, surface scratches, and other sign of character. The bell is nice and straight and the lead pipe has a small dent, but otherwise looks very nice. Please check out the pictures for further clarification of condition. The horn recently came out of the shop and was given and inspection: All of the braces are secure, all of the tuning slide pull freely, and the valves function properly. The horn still has some pop but would benefit from a heavier oil since the valve compression between the valves are between 5-6. The horn comes with a case that has 2 out of 3 functioning latches. I plan to have someone play this horn very shortly and will update the listing in regards to how it plays. I do not see any serial number on this horn. Priced to sell at $850 with Free Shipping in the Lower 48 States. All sales come with a 10 day no fuss return policy.
